Here is the story one grandparent told about the new high chair they bought for their grandchild.
Our children live out of town and we needed some juvenile furniture for when they visit. We had an old high chair but when our son put his baby daughter in it she slumped. The small vinyl seat belt wasn't adequate to to keep her sitting up straight. So, in the spirit of "There's nothing too good for my grandchildren", we went shopping for a new high chair.
The new high chairs are beautiful. We picked one out and it got its first test that day. After assembling it we put my granddaughter in and it kept her sitting up straight. This is good everyone thought.
But are there any negatives? OK- here goes. The chair was very stable but the legs splayed out at an angle that made it hard to get around it. We have a pretty good size kitchen and we set up the high chair near our kitchen table but I kept bumping into the high chair and knocking for a loop. It looked the prestige chair that it was but it was massive.
We certainly didn't need to have the high chair permanently standing in our kitchen so after my son left with his family to return to his home out of town I disassembled the chair. It came apart, with tools, and the individual parts can be easily lost. I stored the parts in plastic bags.
My old chair simply folded up for easy storage.
Guess what the bottom line on this high chair is. We sent a letter to the manufacturer which is a major U.S. company telling them what our experience was. What if thousands of grandparents join us and on behalf of that group we send the same letter. WE WILL GET NOTICED.
So that's your assignment. Send our web site on to your fellow grandparents and get more stories we can post. Pretty soon the Power of Grandparents will be a formidable power to be reckoned with.
